Watering underground at the roots

Green King, LLC’s Deep Drip™ Tree Watering Stakes are put to the test.

Cal State Fresno's Center for Irrigation Technology tested wetting patterns of surface irrigation in comparison to watering through Deep Drip Tree Watering Stakes (sub-surface irrigation).  The test employed drip emitters totaling 5gph watering at the surface only, against Deep Drip™ with 2 x 2gph (4gph total).  The test summarized, "These findings indicate a broader wetting pattern (i.e., wetted depth) for the Deep Drip system compared to the surface drip system; thereby suggesting greater and deeper water availability across the root zone."  Using 20% less water via Deep Drip, there was still a greater saturation of the root zone relative to normal surface drip irrigation methods.

Deep Drip™ Tree Watering Stakes (www.DeepDrip.com) water, aerate, and fertilize directly at the root zone.  A hollow spike (lined with holes) that is inserted into the ground as an avenue for water, fertilizer and oxygen, Deep Drip™ is an efficient way to ensure water gets down to the roots.  A durable UV protected cap allows for pounding into the ground with a sledge hammer, while an internal filter keeps the rocks and dirt from entering the stake.  Deep Drip™ can be used in conjunction with a common garden hose or with standard ¼” drip line and emitters.

A great way to bring sick trees back to health, conserve water, produce a greater fruit yield, and show your trees’ roots the path to grow down for a stronger structure.  Excellent for use on sloped terrain to guard against wasteful run-off and hill erosion.  Stakes come in three sizes: 14”, 24” and 36” for various applications.  Green King, LLC, established in 2005, is located in Phoenix, Arizona and is privately owned.  (866) 469-4330
